Critical Pedagogy: AI Instruction Plan

For my LIS 560 Critical Pedagogy course, we were tasked with creating a lesson plan on. a topic of our choice. I chose to build on my capstone research on critical engagement with AI to create an instructional plan geared toward first-year students on whether and how to engage with AI.

This instructional plan frames AI as an information literacy and misinformation issue that is essential to address as academic librarians and instructors. By utilizing the principles of critical pedagogy I learned from Sofia Leung in this course, I built a lesson plan that supports students in developing their own critical thinking skills around AI while also highlighting alternate resources to AI offered by the UW Libraries to support them in library research and navigation. ​
